Framework for identifying and assessing transmission investment options (2023)

This is the second stage of Ofgem CSNP Consultations regarding ‘modelling future supply and demand’. 

This consultation addresses how the FSO may identify and assess a range of options to address electricity transmission network needs as part of the CSNP.

The IET Energy Panel recommends that the CSNP should be part of a Strategic Whole Energy System Plan and we note that this view is supported by the Electricity Commissioner’s report to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero on how to accelerate the deployment of strategic electricity transmission infrastructure in Great Britain.

We answer the four questions and highlight our recommendations.
