Join us on 4 March 2021 to discuss Raising Standards, Saving Lives - the role of the Building Safety Manager

In light of the Grenfell tragedy, the draft Building Safety Bill is set to bring reforms to the construction industry and building safety. The Bill recommends the need for a new role, the building safety manager (BSM), to ensure that there will always be someone responsible for keeping residents safe in all high-rise buildings that are in scope.

On 4 March 2021 at 2pm GMT, the IET is hosting a webinar, together with the Construction Industry Council, Marisco South Ltd and the Fire Industry Association to explore the impact of this role in more detail. The session aims to provide the latest updates on the Building Safety legislation, as well as highlighting practical BSM challenges from a contractor’s perspective and examining the value of work-based experience and professional registration in this area.

Attendees will hear presentations from Graham Watts OBE, chief executive and secretary of the Construction Industry Council, Ralph Elliott-King, health and safety and fire prevention consultant at Marisco South Ltd, Mike Frain, principal electrical consultant at Michael J Frain Consulting, James Curnow, senior electrical engineering at Reading Borough Council, and Will Lloyd, technical manager at the Fire Industry Association. The webinar will also include a panel discussion and the opportunity for you to raise any key questions you may have on this proposal.
