We’re supporting the ‘Cooling Keeps Food Fresh’ Campaign

Cooling Keeps Food Fresh has been launched by the United Nations Environment Programme OzonAction, Chefs4thePlanet and Global Food Cold Chain Council to celebrate World Refrigeration Day.

This dedicated day is an international initiative that raises awareness of the benefits of cooling and inspires development and adoption of innovative and sustainable cooling solutions. It aims to celebrate the positive contribution that refrigeration makes to society.

The Cooling Keeps Food Fresh campaign will explain cooling’s essential role in food safety, supporting nutritious diets that sustain our health, reducing food loss and waste and protecting the environment. Leading chefs from around the world have signed on to the campaign.

Last year, we named refrigeration as one of the 15 most valuable inventions of the last 150 years. In honour of our 150th anniversary, we celebrated and championed the invaluable role that science and engineering plays in society by crowning the top 15 inventions.

Fridges are now found in almost all homes in the UK and home refrigeration sparked a nutrition revolution by making fresh food accessible to millions.

More recently, the value of this widely available technology was highlighted throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the role of refrigeration in the vaccine programme roll out across the globe.
