Six chances a year, up to two awards in each round.

What are the grants worth?

£600 per award.

Key dates

Criteria

  • For IET members across the world with a minimum of one year’s membership at the deadline for the round you are applying for.
  • You’ll need to be either a Student, a Member or a Fellow. Some Associate categories and lapsed members are not eligible. Please contact us if you’re not sure.
  • You can use it for any conference or research visit in the country you’re currently based in.
  • You don’t have to be a national of the country you’re based in to apply.
  • You’ll need to submit your application according to the published deadlines.
  • You should be travelling at least one month after the application closing date. Nothing earlier will be considered.

How do I apply?

  • Online through our website
  • You can apply at any time during the year
  • You can make up to two applications a year
  • You can’t apply after an event has taken place
  • If you win, you can apply again but not before a year has passed
  • You’ll need to provide travel details in the application

You’ll need a referee and to supply those details to us at the time of application.

Winners

  • You’ll be assessed on the main objectives of your conference or research visit and how this will benefit you and your studies or employment
  • Please consider whether you have a genuine financial need
  • Winners are asked to send in a report and photo within a month following the end of the trip. Reports and photos will be uploaded to our website
  • Share your experience on social media
  • The IET can ask for funding to be returned should the report not be received on time.
