Industry voices: why won’t the built environment sector modernise?

The UK Built Environment sector faces a multitude of challenges. It must engage with building safety in the wake of the Grenfell Tower fire and find ways of removing carbon from its projects to meet the demands of a net-zero carbon economy.

Critics claim the sector is too slow to embrace change; its practices often create bad feeling and reputational damage while it is slow to adopt digitisation.

  • Why might that be?
  • What can be done to turn the sector around?

The IET event, ‘Industry Voices’, invited key figures from inside and outside the industry to answer these questions and point to a solution, all under the Chatham House Rule.
