Accreditation roles

Academic accreditor

We award academic accreditation to higher education programmes that meet the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) as outlined by the Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP).

A panel of trained and expert Accreditors look at programme content and delivery, including its relevance, coherence, challenge, assessment, staffing, quality assurance and resources, and will make recommendations to the Academic Accreditation Committee which is responsible for all accreditation decisions.

Find out how you can get involved with academic accreditation through the following roles:

Professional development scheme accreditation assessor

An accredited company scheme enables organisations to provide a quality-assured pathway for its engineers who want to achieve professional registration.

Do you have a background in professional development scheme operation or management, mentoring, or a knowledge of professional development or professional registration?

Can you work effectively as part of a team with a willingness to travel? If so, this could be the role for you.

Apprenticeship Accreditation and Qualification Assessor

Are you involved in the delivery of Apprenticeship Schemes and have an appreciation of the requirements for the successful delivery of these schemes?

Do you have an understanding of Apprenticeship Standards, Frameworks and vocational engineering qualifications?

As an Apprenticeship Accreditation and Qualification Assessor (as part of the Apprentice Mapping and Scheme Approval Team) you’ll be involved in formal apprenticeships or competence-based qualifications to UK-SPEC and the ICTTech standard as well as identifying Engineering Council defined learning outcomes for Technician to Masters level qualifications.
