There will be a panel of judges that will assess all entered presentation videos and collated workings at the end of the 24-hour Live hackathon.

#IETHackathon Judging Criteria Overview for Competitors

How many people will I be competing against?

The maximum number of teams will be 20.

Each team can have a minimum of three members and a maximum of six.

It is up to you to decide who is in your team and what skills each member brings.

What are the dates for the other stages of the competition?

Once registration for teams closes, online events and training workshops will start from the week commencing Monday, 29 August 2022.

What are the paid-for courses that team members will be receiving for free?

  • Back to Basics of Presenting – managed by the IET
  • Time and Priority Management - managed by the IET

These courses will be recorded and available for teams to watch in their own time through the online platform, EventsAir. (Only registered team members will have access to this).

Another course put on specifically for this Hackathon is Design Thinking with Model-Based Engineering Theory which will be run by volunteers.

What online platform will you be using to host the live 24-hour Hackathon?

We will be using the web-based events platform EventsAir. This will house all training material and challenge information and will see the live Q&A take place throughout the 24 hours.

If this is restricted in your country, please make the #IETHackathon team aware at youngprofessionals@theiet.org.

Teams are free to use their own methods of meeting as a group during the Live 24 Hours. This could be in person, via Microsoft Teams. Zoom or whatever online meeting platform is suitable in your country.

Do I have to be a member of the IET to compete?

No, this competition is open to everyone, not just IET members. The only criteria are that you must be between 18-35 years old and have a team of 3-6 individuals.
