The SoE and C&MES joined to form the incorporated Society of Engineers in 1910.
In 2005 the SoE was absorbed by the Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE).
The IIE joined with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE) in March 2006 to become the IET.
