The end-point assessment process

We will firstly raise a contract to cover the cohorts of apprentices as described by you.

We ask for a £30 deposit to register each apprentice covered in your contract. This can be done at the start of the apprenticeship, but we suggest at least 12 months before the EPA is due. This deposit will be deducted from the total cost of the EPA.

Once formally registered, the apprentices are entitled to free membership of the IET for the duration of the apprenticeship so they can have full access to our membership services.

We are happy to be contacted at any time to discuss issues as they arise, we will assign a single Account Manager to your organisation to maintain consistent communication.

Workshop

At least 6 months before the EPA is due, we will deliver a workshop to your apprentices and any other stakeholders in your organisation (apprentice supporters, line managers etc who may wish to guide and advise the apprentice).

This workshop will outline the process and describe the two submission documents that the apprentice will need to create:

  • Showcase Portfolio - mapped to the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours of the apprenticeship standard
  • Performance Indicator Recording Form (PIRF) – written evidence against the competence requirements for professional registration at Engineering Technician level.

Some apprenticeship standards allow for someone from the employer to deliver the first part of the EPA (viva) so long as they are competent in the field and are independent of the apprenticeship and not a direct line manager or supporter of the apprentice. If you choose this option, we will run a brief workshop for your nominated person/s to cover the requirements of this.

Alternatively, we can provide an assessor to carry out the assessment.

ACE 360 and Gateway requirements

You, or the Learning Provider you are working with, will create an apprentice record in ACE360. This is the workflow system we use to handle all the document uploads.

ACE360 will require payment of £7.50 to sign up each apprentice. This will also be deducted from the total cost of the EPA.

ACE360 can provide an overview of the functionality of their system free of charge, should you require this.

When the formal apprenticeship delivery has been completed and all the mandatory qualifications have been awarded, we require all certifications to be uploaded to ACE360, together with an employer sign-off stating that, in their opinion, the apprentice is occupationally competent.

Before the assessment, the completed Showcase Portfolio and Performance Indicator Recording Form (PIRF) must also be uploaded to ACE360.

Once all gateway documents have been submitted we can schedule dates for assessments.

Assessment Completion Timescale

Results will be posted within 7 working days, once the last assessment stage has been completed. Occasionally, the results could be delayed due to Internal Quality Assurance Checks.
